Social Media Strategies to Promote Your Upcoming Event

Are you hosting an event? You can use several social media platforms to promote your upcoming event and attract a crowd.

Use Facebook’s Event Function to Your Advantage

Many people today use Facebook in conjunction with their smartphone calendar to remind them of plans they have made. This should be your first step in using social media to promote your upcoming event.

Begin by creating the event and adding an exciting cover photo that reflects your brand. To gain maximum exposure, invite everyone in your Group, everyone who likes your Page, and all your personal Facebook friends. Consider using Facebook Live on your event page to capture attention.

Create an Event Hashtag

Create a catchy event hashtag and share content daily on Twitter and Instagram to remind people of the event. Encourage people to use your hashtag to share their own plans. The hashtag could be the name of your event followed by the year or a short, clever phrase that incorporates your event’s theme. You can even use multiple hashtags to catch people’s attention.

Stay in Touch with Your Audience

Consistency is the key to social media marketing success. When you use social media to promote your event, don’t just create the event and hashtags, then walk away. Keep your audience engaged—and growing—by sharing previews of what will happen, including details about the guest speakers, photos of the venue, and the menu. Encourage people to RSVP; when people see their friends are going to an event, they are more likely to join in.

Social media provides a cost-effective, eco-friendly way to promote any event—including parties, fundraisers, or grand openings.
